The Bedwell School Garden

The Bedwell Garden is a work of love that has been maintained primarily through the volunteer efforts of Bedwell staff and the H.S.A. Green Team. The Bedwell Garden is a unique and valuable resource for the students and staff at Bedwell Elementary School. The garden is used as an outdoor classroom to support student learning across curriculum and grade levels.  It provides a therapeutic environment for students and staff throughout the year. It is an amazing resource for our students with special needs and it provides community service opportunities for Somerset Hills students as well as our local Girl and Boy Scout troops. Going forward, it is our hope that the garden will continue to expand and flourish.

The garden is divided into three sections: the New Jersey Native Species section, the Butterfly Garden and the Victory Garden.

Bedwell is open from 8am to 4pm Monday through Thursday during the summer months.  Bedwell doors close promptly at 4pm so please leave yourself enough time to turn off hoses and close up the garden.  Additionally, please note that the school will be closed for the July 4th holiday on both July 3rd and 4th this year.  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please note that there will be students and staff in the building all summer long.  Bedwell is a community garden and staff members and students will often help out. If you arrive and people are already at work, please feel free to jump in and help. There is much to be done and the garden exists because of the volunteer efforts of many.  We truly appreciate as little or as much time as you can provide during your adopted week and we thank you in advance for your help.
